Creating Rules
The toolbar insert rule button can be used to insert rules within the grammar document or alternatively by the first right click of the mouse before any other grammar elements are inserted. The program will insert the rule where the mouse cursor is located. There is no limit to the number of rules that can be created.

Rule Properties
Each rule can be edited by right clicking the rule in the design view and selecting Rule Properties from the right click options or from the file menu through Select->Rule Properties. The Rule Properties window is defined below.

The name of the rule. |
| Scope |
Select whether the rule is public or private. |
| Tag |
The tag value of the rule. |
| Bind |
Automatically bind the rule to the tag value. |

| Ruleref |
Type the file name of the rule to insert of browse for the location. |
| Format |
The file type that is being reference. Grammar Studio automatically inserts this if the file has an XML extension. |
| File Location |
The file path of the grammar file being referenced. |
| Special |
Select the type of grammar file being referenced. |

| Examples |
Add examples of how the rule is spoken. |
