Colligo Corporation
Making books navigable through voice commands
Colligo
creates content exclusively for the blind, such as Talking
Books on CD-ROM, which allow users to navigate through stories
by clicking on-screen buttons. They are stepping up their
delivery by taking advantage of the latest text-to-speech
playback technology that allows navigation through voice commands
via the telephone.
Now their users can say voice commands, such as "next
paragraph," "jump back," or "spell that.",
even ask for their location in the book by asking "where
am I?". Voice Web Solutions developed a voice portal
for reading books using three classics - The Wizard of Oz,
Tarzan of the Apes and The Red Badge of Courage. Using VANGUARD
Player to power the book reading, the book voice portal has made
literature more accessible to the blind community and offered
a glimpse into the possibilities of voice technology.

Speech Technology Magazine
Providing speech technology those who cover it
Speech
Technology Magazine is the premier publication for news in
the industry - but their content is not yet accessible via
the technology they cover. Voice Web Solutions built a prototype
to show readers how they might experience content in a new
way using VANGUARD. They chose an article about government
agencies seeking innovative ways to become Section 508 compliant
- and made it accessible via a text-to-speech demo. The demo
showed first-hand how readers could navigate news articles
using simple voice commands such as "skip" and "repeat."
