Voice
Web Studio™ simplifies accessibility solutions for
accessing Web content:
What
is SALT?
The Speech Application Language Tags (SALT) specification,
developed by Microsoft, Cisco, Intel and other industry leaders,
is an emerging technology standard for deploying speech enabled
accessibility services that will reach out to the world’s
40 million visually impaired. SALT adheres a speech interface
to existing Web markup languages such as HTML, XHTML and XML.
Using SALT means greater flexibility in creating accessible
content that speaks to the user, similar to the experience of a screen reader
reading content on the screen. Unlike a screen reader, the SALT
technology embedded within your existing Web site will listen
and respond to the user's spoken words. Voice Web Studio is
the easiest and most affordable development tool on the market
today for adding SALT to Web pages.

Accessibility
through Speech
Web sites authored with Voice Web Studio in Macromedia Dreamweaver™
MX enable the end-user of the disabled community to access
existing Web content using standard computers, without having
to pay for screen reading software that can cost in excess
of $1,000 USD each. By using common skills and a familiar
development environment, Web developers can enhance existing
Web sites into speech enabled accessibility sites.

Consumer
Cost Savings
To the end-user, speech enabled sites are FREE. The speech
plugin that installs on the user's Internet Explorer is about the same
installation size as popular screen reading software. Once
installed, speech enabled sites read the contents back to
the user, as well as allow the user to verbally fill out and
navigate forms and documents and link to other pages. By using Voice Web Studio, companies
leverage their investments by reusing existing Web content
and programming skills to support both types of the disabled
consumer, those who have screen readers and those who do not.

OEM
Partner Support
The regulatory push that is fostering the growth
of the accessibility market, Section 508 of the American Disabilities
Act, is just the beginning. Speech enabled documents and Web
sites will become the single de facto deployment method of
choice for universal accessibility of Web content. Voice Web
Solutions OEM partners maintain a working knowledge of Voice
Web Studio and offer consulting services or products that
compliment SALT technology. Our partners make it easier for
users to implement speech enabled Web sites, as well as market
and distribute Voice Web Studio to target audiences.
